When I bought the first two volumes of Code Geass: Lelouch Of The Rebellion, it was entirely on a whim. I had heard such mammoth things about the series, and I plan I would give it a try. The risk, as it turned out, was aboslutely worth the cost, as I became eneveloped in an wonderful world that combined science fiction, fantasy, and political drama in ways I had never seen before.

Frst, in regards to the reveal itself, the last two discs do not disappoint. The exhibit is always driven by its characters, whether they are in the thick of battle or attending school. This is essential, as too many works these days – be they anime or film, from any nation – tend to forget how indispensable the characters are, and instead forcus on plots twists and frosty visuals. Code Geass delivers these as well, but never loses spy of the people.

People who have not watched to the demolish yet should know that the series ends with one of the biggest cliffhangars in the history of visual media. Normally, this would be considered a cardinal sin, but there is a second season, so remember that as the credits roll.
Now for the box site. I normally don’t splurge on anime DVDs like this, but with Code Geass, it is worth the extra cash. The discs themselves would be worth the cost alone. Bandai has packed them with special features the likes of which are rare for anime.
-First are the Narrate Dramas, short segments intended to own in gaps within the series, and occasionally provide some grand needed levity. They are available in both languages.
-Next are the Episode Commentaries from the modern Japanese cast and crew. Admittedly, the commentators have a tendency to ramble about things that have nothing to do with the series, but they are having so distinguished fun you tend not to care.
-We are also treated tointerviews with the four lead dub actors, which is also quite racy. For the represent, the dub of the series is exceptionally well done, so these interviews are a nice touch.
-Beyond that, we glean the standard trailers and shipshape opening/closing animation.
With the discs, however, advance extra minute treats. First is the third volume of the Sound Episodes, which are like the narrate dramas without the visual. They are performed by the dub cast, who, as mentioned earlier, do an exceptional job.
Next is the second volume of the series’ soundtrack [the first volume of which is included with Piece 1 of the series]. As far as soundtracks go, I definitely recommend these CDs, as the music is also a driving force in the series.
Then, there is the first volume of the manga Code Geass: Suzaku Of The Counterattack, a reinterpretation that shifts the focus to Suzaku, and puts a superhero rush on the record [Lancelot is an Iron Man-style suit rather than a mecha]. This is the followup to the last two boxes containing the official Code Geass manga adaptation. While I dislike the other Geass manga, SOTC is a different yarn, and therefor certainly worth a perceive.
Overall, this series is one of the best out there. Now, if only Bandai would race up and release R2 so I can regain out what happened next…
This is the tale cliffhanger conclusion to season 1 of Code Geass.
If you are a fan of the series, you will not be dissappointed in the final volume of season 1.
This special edition collection comes with all the extras of the previous special editions, but the manga book that comes with it is actually a different one. It comes with Code Geass Suzaku of the Counterattack instead of Lelouch of the Rebellion manga. Unexcited valid but I was slightly dissappointed. The music episodes are also really nice to hear in addition to watching the episodes.

This moving, entertaining movie was made in 1967 when the film world was in the embrace of experimental film. Although it’s quite different from “Blow Up”, the storytelling style is unbiased as stylized and recent. Lee Marvin plays Walker a criminal cheated out of $93,000 from a robbery of a mob like syndicate on Alcatraz by his best friend Reese(John Vernon) . Participating in the heist/murder is Walker’s young wife who has been having an affair with Reese. After getting the money, Reese shoots his friend, takes his wife and leaves him for monotonous on Alcatraz.

With the relieve of a mysterious benefactor (Keenan Wynn), Walker tracks down Reese exacting revenge in pursuit for what he’s owed. When his wife commits suicide, Walker seeks out her sister Chris (Angie Dickinson) in hope of luring Reese out of hiding. From there this convoluted mystery spins more threads than director John Boorman knows what to do with but, surprisingly, he keeps the memoir from getting too tangled up.
Boorman and director Steven Soderbergh (“Ocean’s 11″, “Solaris”, “Sex Lies and Videotape”) provide a interesting commentary track on the making of the movie. Boorman recalls that originally Lee Marvin wanted Peggy Lee for the role that Dickinson plays. While he went with Boorman’s decision of Dickinson he wasn’t very nice to his co-star which worked particularly during the scene where Dickinson starts hitting Marvin. Dickinson hit Marvin so hard he had bruises the next day but the actor stoically took the hits and the camera kept rolling. Boorman also discusses the stylized near he uses in shooting the film including a sequence in Walker’s deceased wife’s apartment that where the body disappears in an almost dream like sequence, the furniture disappears and Marvin’s clothes change. The studio was so concerned when it saw the first slice of this sequence it hired a psychologist to near talk to the director.

Featuring a aesthetic transfer from Warner Home Video and a nearly perfect sign fresh print of the film, “Point Blank” looks titillating with shining colors. The mono soundtrack with some of its new sound effects (the sound of Walker’s feet providing a percussive element to one sequence in particularly) also sounds remarkably positive. There’s also a two section promo featurette “The Rock” which focuses on the shooting of the movie on Alcatraz (it was the first movie shot there since the prison closed in 1963 and had been turned into a area park) . Using San Francisco, Santa Monica and Los Angeles as a backdrop, the film features dazzling cinematography. If Don Siegel had watched the French Fresh Wave prior to making some of his noir laced thrillers, this is what it might have looked like.
Remade with Mel Gibson as a more aged looking thriller called “Payback”, “Point Blank” features Marvin in one of his most stoic, much and grim performances. His character of Walker leaves a scramble of wearisome bodies without remorse or regret in pursuit of what is rightfully his. A pleasant film filled with many, many levels, this classic thriller does not have a straight forward chronicle so if you’re expecting a realistic film noir or anecdote, you should discover elsewhere.

`Point Blank’ starts out in an abandoned Alcatraz Prison circa 1967 where Walker (Lee Marvin), his wife, and Mal Reese (John Vernon – probably best remembered as Dean Wormer in `Animal House’) lift an apparently illegal money payoff. Once the money is counted, Reese shoots Walker in a prison cell leaving him for tiring, and takes Walker’s $93,000. Walker recovers from the shooting and with the support of a stranger named Yost (Keenan Wynn), Walker finds out that Reese and Walker’s wife ran off to Los Angeles and Reese is now a substantial player in a major crime syndicate. This sets up the rest of the movie where Walker hunts down Reese but also wants all of this $93,000 serve.
The movie is clearly dim in mood and substance, even though it was filmed in vibrant color. Angie Dickenson plays the role of Walker’s sister-in-law Chris, who helps him bag Reese. The chemistry between Chris and Walker seems overtly empty and downhearted. An intriguing Carroll O’Conner (best known for playing Archie Bunker in ‘All in the Family’) brings a lot of energy to the last segment of the movie. The film has an unmistakably tedious `60’s spy with hasty and chaotic flashbacks and over-accentuated sound effects – such as loud, reverberating footsteps when an intensely focused Lee Marvin is hunting down Reese. This movie is more sexual and violent than noir films of the `40’s and `50’s, but is peaceful restrained by today’s standards. The film’s biggest asset is how Lee Marvin confronts and handles his adversaries – each location is new and effective, but not over the top. The residence as a whole has very few major surprises, although there is one minor twist in the extinguish. Overall, it’s an extremely kindly movie, but not a mammoth one, but I collected strongly recommend it.
As for the DVD, the transfer is wonderful. The characterize quality is free of even the tiniest of flaws and the color is colorful and shining and the sharpness is terrific for a film this extinct. The audio is also suitable. There is option real-time commentary by director John Boorman and filmmaker Steven Soderbergh, plus two short features, both made when the film was being shot in the slow `60’s entitled the Rock Fragment I &II. These two documentaries deal with the filming of the scenes on Alcatraz that were former in `Point Blank’. Section II also contains a short interview with a stale prisoner who did time on “The Rock”..

Just getting a unusual Wallace & Gromit short is superb news, but “A Matter of Loaf and Death” feels a whole lot like a remake of “A Discontinuance Shave.” It’s unruffled rather fascinating, but it feels rather derivative. It also seems to employ a lot more pop-culture gags than the older films did, though admittedly they’re venerable enough that they have become permanent fixtures on the pop-culture landscape and only one isn’t humorous if you don’t know the reference.

I would NOT accept this single-disc release, though, because it is a cropped full-frame (1.33:1) when the movie itself was lively in widescreen. The documentary on the making of the movie is in anamorphic widescreen, and often reveals how limited some of the cropped shots are. It seems that the 4-disc DVD complete collection is in full-frame as well. The Blu-ray of the Complete Collection presents this movie in its sterling widescreen format (as well as “A Terminate Shave”), and should be the one you take if you have a choice. The Blu-ray remasters the unusual shorts as well, and they gawk spectacular.
I admit to not having done my homework on this, but aloof… You have to be able to compose an impulse acquire every once in a while without getting ripped off.
I was out shopping for a pack of batteries when I saw a fresh Wallace and Gromit DVD on the shelf. Didn’t know Slash Park had done anything since The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, so I expeditiously investigated. Now “feature” to me means a full-length presentation (as in “our feature presentation”) … a short might be called a featurette. So I assumed this was more than unprejudiced a 30-minute short (which is what it actually is) . They must have totalled all of the supplemental clips on the disc to collect that “87 limited” total time. Nice.

Typical manic editing for the dubbed US release, here only given a SEVERELY modest fullscreen (non pan-and-scan) DVD release from Westlake Entertainment(and honestly it seemed to me it was a different ‘edit’ entirely from the US network television airing of this film I once saw when I was younger… but it could unbiased be my imagination too;) .
Unexcited, this version of director Rene Cardona’s brilliantly flawed surreal masterpiece is like a Ken Russell Christmas account. It’s metomorphic, yet simple and obscene. It has wonderfully bizarre music and space effect, as well as aesthetic costumes, colors, and lighting (unless this film was originally B&W and I’m not aware) . I loved the regional representations of the children, and the abominable english dub is obviously a cheesy B-movie fan’s lemon or appreciate. I like it.

The print on this DVD is fullscreen and has severe specks and scratches, the record quality is rough at times… And either a digitally remastered audio track or print has been presented here. It’s not really specified on this Westlake Entertainment DVD release. There is NO DTS track, though– that seems to be incorrectly listed as a feature of this particular 2004 Westlake Ent. DVD release here on Amazoncom.
But it’s collected worth it to sight a goofy gem of an X-Mas film, burly of wild ideas and imagery (A TALKING CHILD LOCATOR? YIKES!) –Some of which is very remarkable a precursor to the newer powerful beloved shows like Pee Wee’s Playhouse and HR Puff-N-Stuff (one never knows) . Fun film for the whole family in this edited up version for the US audiences. Pitch the devilish demon is harmless pseudo-relgious/spiritual nonsense, while ol’ Saint Crop is portrayed like a GOD.
Fun concepts abound, but the dub is Terrible. But fun.
Highly recommended, and the DVD has a nice screen that looks almost like a silver-age comical book camouflage!

Far out in plot, but directly over the North Pole, lives Santa Claus in his castle in the clouds. From his majestic home, he oversees the Christmas preparations handled by his team of children from around the world. Though, it seems they use most of their time performing regional songs in a trance-like situation. All seems to be going well this year, until one of Satan’s devils, Pitch, is ordered to cause Santa peril again. As Santa Claus spies on the children below with bizarre gadgets that leer to be stolen from Peewee’s Playhouse or Sid and Marty Krofft and prepares for his annual plod by gathering supplies from his cohorts, Merlin the wizard and a magical blacksmith, Pitch is busy on the ground teaching children to disfavor Santa Claus and to engage and vandalize. Pitch focuses his energy on three nefarious brothers and a dreadful puny girl named Lupita who is desperate to come by a doll for Christmas. Lupita’s resistance is unyielding, however, and Santa is positive to reward the melancholy and tormented child. The three terrible minute boys, on the other hand, are playing lawful into Pitch’s hands. A fourth limited boy is also a subject of distress. The boy is rich, but he’s also a capable shrimp boy who is neglected by his parents. In order to grant the inquire of in the child’s letter, Santa will have to remind the parents how noteworthy they cherish their son, something he does by drugging their drinks while making his rounds with his disturbing, wind-up, albino reindeer that have a vampiric reaction to sunlight. In 1959, the world of cult-film was given a magical Christmas gift in the build of “Santa Claus,” a Mexican film by director Rene Cardona. This brightly colored, completely backwards yarn of Santa vs. Satan has got to be one of the most bizarre films I have ever seen, surely produced by some sort of “Church of Santa Claus.” Despite its vow weirdness, though, it is a highly delectable annual experience. People often talk about “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians,” a film I have yet to pick up around to seeing, but I can’t imagine it holding a candle to this astonishing travesty. Truth be told, I’m determined this “children’s film” would succeed in giving many children nightmares, but for the adult who gets a kick out of the occasional bizarre film, this is one for the library! Santa is downright creepy with his ghastly laughing fits and the uncommon faces he makes as he plays his organ for the child laborers he uses instead of elves. And, since when does Santa live in heaven and battle Satan? More importantly though, what’s up with those freaky toy reindeer that turn to dust if the sunlight hits them? “Santa Claus,” despite being badly dubbed (and, according to various sources, badly edited for the dubbed version) and having plenty of print scratches and flaws, is a must have for the collector of Christmas or bizarre DVDs. To keep it plainly, this film is a stagger!

I am guessing it isnt out till after Xmas because in America the final of the first thirteen episodes that feature on this disc wont be aired till objective before Christmas. Makes sense. Spacious that all 13 episodes will be on the disc as in Australia only 9 episodes will be aired before our destroy of the year ratings where everything goes off till mid Feb. It’s a titanic series, would almost be worth to have a “Thats Glee-tainment” disc honest featuring all the music numbers. My personal favourite for staging and achieve – so far “Preserve Holding On”.
Utterly shining, insightful, poignant and astonishing! Although it hasn’t been the pudgy season yet, the first 13 episodes and the outpouring of attend on I-Tunes with the show’s songs have proven that “Glee” is a force to be reckoned with. Created by Ryan Murphy (Nip/Tuck), the note follows the William McKinney HS club led by Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison) who finds something special and fabulous in each of the Glee members. Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) is head of the school’s cheerleading team and portion co-sponsor who hilariously never ceases to method to consume out the Glee club. Emma Pillsbury (Jayma Mays), the “doe-eyed desirable freak”, is the school’s counselor who finds herself becoming closer to the club than expected. Jessalyn Gilsig (who portrays Will’s wife, Terri), is supportive of her husband’s decision to retract over Glee but becomes selfish in her hopes to initiate a family. Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) displays her abilities as a diva and proves that she is confident in her talents and goals. Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith) reluctantly joins the club and ends up having to gain a decision between Glee and football. Mercedes Jones (Amber Riley) is proud of having an independent spirit and her vocals are out of this world. Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer) struggles to admit his sexual orientation but his passion for the music is attractive after he joins the football team and teaches them a thing or two about dancing. Noah Puckerman (Price Salling) is Finn’s best friend who at first, dislikes the club for it’s flamboyancy, but has a change of heart for a very different reason. Quinn Fabray (Dianna Agron) is the all-American cheerleader who is head of the celibacy club and joins Glee to aid Sue in taking the club down. Tina Cohen-Chang (Jenna Ushkowitz) is another fellow Glee-ster who wears Gothic clothes regularly and has a speech impediment who becomes a superior adversary for Rachel. Artie Abrams (Kevin McHale) is a handicapped student who reaches out to the club in proving that his disability hasn’t exiguous him in being an outstanding guitar player and singer. There were so many moments that were so touching, laughable and all-around joyous that it’s hard to completely mention. From laugh-out-loud musical numbers of Salt-N-Pepa’s “Push It” to the momentous hit of Journey’s “Don’t End Believin’”, the tie-in soundtrack is a MUST for any die-hard fan of the reveal! The ultimate breakout wreck of the ‘09-’10 TV season, “Glee” is THE prove you don’t want to miss.

The five star rating I gave Night of the Living Stupid is, of course, for the modern, uncut, unadulterated edition. The new is, quite simply, the most hideous movie I’ve ever seen, even when compared to scare classics like Diabolique (the modern French version), Psycho, Rosemary’s Baby, Halloween and The Intellectual. I saw NOTLD when I was 9 years broken-down on Creature Features at midnight after a funeral. I had nightmares for the next two nights. The film composed gives me the chills whenever I explore it (usually at Halloween) .

When the 30th Anniversary Edition came out, I bought it on VHS as I was moving to contemplate what they termed as “original footage.” What I got was a rank mess that butchered the unique film, removed the unusual music for a bad synthesizer gain and added pointless footage that makes the viewer want to grind his teeth down to the gums. One of the additions is a recent character: a fire and brimstone preacher. While the acting in the recent is amateurish, at best, the “actor” who plays the preacher makes the new cast contemplate like Oscar winners by comparison. He snarls, and howls and gnashes his teeth like he has rabies. Even more ridiculous is the extra footage of Bill Hinzman — the “cemetary zombie” in the novel. The extra footage shows Hinzman’s character emerging from the grave, then cuts to the unique 1968 opening footage with Judith O’Dea and Russell Streiner. It’s absolutely ridiculous as Hinzman looks 30 years older in the unique footage. In addition, there are more zombies and a current ending to the film that makes no sense whatsoever. This “unusual” version is a fraction of trash that desecrates the most evil film of all time. Avoid it like the plague!

Okay…as I’d feared, my negative review of the John Russo-massacred “30th Anniversary Edition” of Night of the Living Dull has been lumped unwittingly into this product’s review, so I’ m writing this one to account for.
This DVD edition is the best edition I’ve seen of the film yet. Anchor Bay may have raised the ires of legions of Living Listless fans by releasing the sacrilegious 30th Anniversary Edition, but Elite Entertainment did just by this fresh edition.
George A. Romero’s personal appreciation appears in the succor of this DVD — this immediately restores our faith. And the contents don’t disappoint — the report and sound are proper, and though this doesn’t exactly absorb the richest batch of bonus materials (sets like the noble 3-disc edition of Dario Argento’s Suspiria and the fresh double-disc Re-Animator both feature loads of extras), it is a nice solid collection. You fetch a Duane Jones interview (sadly with only audio and no image, but tranquil tremendous) ; an on-camera chat between Judith Ridley (Judy) and Marilyn Eastman (Helen) ; the hilarious student-film spoof “Night of the Living Bread” by Kevin S. O’Brien (which also appeared in the double-cassette VHS edition) ; two commentary tracks with Romero, Russo, Russ Streiner, Eastman, Karl Hardman and others. One very illuminating piece of this DVD for non-film-scholars is visually lifeless but informative — several histories outlining the beginning of Romero’s Latent Image company, on Hardman and Eastman’s company, and how the two were married to beget Night of the Living Slow.

THIS is the correct edition of Night of the Living Slow, the one to procure for both fans and non-fans alike. It includes all the vital people (spy that Russo, Streiner and Bill Hinzman were included in this release, despite their criminal participation in the 30th Anniversary Edition), and it presents the film the intention it wants to be seen.
Now I’m waiting for a deluxe release of Dawn of the Unimaginative and Day of the Boring…
